Hi. Welcome! Could you post actual specs of the bullet and maybe a picture of it? Offhand, 225 is an awesome bullet weight for the 450 B but I would like to see the bullet and it’s specs.

What a timely post.
I just finished loading some of these 225gr Magtech schp in my 450 bm.
These are my results...
38.0 to 42.2 gr of Lilgun in .3 gr incriments.....average mv for 3 shot groups.
Hornady, once fired, brass, Federal 205 primers, brass trim 1.690", COL 2.150", Ruger American Ranch 16" barrel.

38.0. 2442 fps
38.3. 2454 fps
38.6. 2443 fps
38.9. 2436 fps
39.2 2493 fps
39.5. 2495 fps
39.8. 2500 fps
40.1. 2507 fps
40.4. 2550 fps
40.7. 2446 fps
41.0. 2476 fps
41.3. 2516 fps
41.6. 2508 fps
41.9. 2556 fps
42.2. 2568 fps

Accuracy wasn't all that impressive, most groups, at 100 yds, were in the 1.5 to 2 moa range, although several expanded past 3 moa.
However, the 39.5 gr load gave me a solid 1 moa group, with 2 shots on top of each other.
A little more work, tinkering, may improve those a bit.
I may have been on the losing side, but, I'm not convinced it was the wrong side.

if you shop around you can get Hornady 225gr FTX for less and I don't mean on sale or blems. Their reputation for accuracy in the 450b is all around this forum. I don't know why but regardless of brand or weight, I've never had the degree of accuracy with JHP's as I've had with the three weights of FTX bullets. Just my experience though.

Another predicted 12-incher just rolling in.

Hey Hoot. Yeah, from reading your posts on here I barely got the notion that ya favor the 225 FTXers . Actually they're bout all I've been loading thanks to your wealth of info on them. I've been wantin' to try some solid copper boolits but not wantin' to pay a buck a throw for em, so I decided to give these a go. Rainin' like a big dog here in NE Iowa.

225gr FTX are tack drivers. But they don't perform well on game. They are thin jacketed pistol bullets. I love them for general purpose shooting. I probably have a K of them. These copper HP bullets are serious hunting bullets. I will probably use them for muzzleloading. I'm sold on the Barnes 275gr bullets for 450BM hunting loads. They are the most accurate bullets I have found to date.
