California Lead Ammo Ban

Postby BillytheKid » Thu Apr 02, 2015 5:53 pm

Apparently, I won't be hunting this year...at least not with my .450 Bushmaster.

Thanks, Hornady, for putting .450 non lead on the back burner (said with as much sarcasm as I can muster)!

Thanks for asking, but no.

I'm going to have to mothball the .450 and get another caliber rifle.

Don't do that! Can somebody make him some 275 Barnes. Besides you'll spend far less dollars if you start to reload..

I sent this in an email to Franklin Armory. I also sent a similar email to Buffalo Bore. I hope for positive replies.

"Dear Franklin Armory,

I am looking for non lead .450 Bushmaster ammo, preferably. As you may know, the California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife's decision to impose regulations this year for banning all lead ammo on land under their control has .450 Bushmaster users scrambling. I remember you guys saying you may be able to provide non lead ammo for the .450 if there was a need.

Alternatively, I also remember Franklin Armory showing a .308 Winchester upper for the AR-15, but I am unable to find it on your website.

Thanks in advance for your reply,
Bill"

I've sent message after message, for a few years now, asking for a non lead option,...and they've never even replied...not once.

Did you check with Peter Pi from Corbon? I know he does custom loading on small runs. :D :P
