cleaned up the shop??? How will you find anything?
It was the second coming of Christmas Mike!
I found so many tools, some I had never even unpacked like a matching set of Metric and SAE Crow's Feet sockets I bought a year or two ago and once out of sight, they were out of mind.
It's about 80% done, but the majority of work was getting $%^t off the floor so I could walk around. Then came throwing out things that at the time seemed like they were worth keeping as a source of raw materials for projects like angle stock, sheet stock, anything stainless steel, but in reality I had no immediate use for. Now that it's packed to go the the junkyard, I'll need it a week from now.
I bet I have 40-50 pounds of SS machine screws and bolts, split & flat washers, plain, kep, wing and lock nuts. #2 through 3/8 inch, NC & NF. I generally don't save non-SS hardware unless it has some unique form factor since it is readily available at the local hardware store.
The last 20% of the remaining work will be the most time consuming. That's sorting and binning the hardware and getting all the horizontal work surfaces cleaned off and their contents stored in an orderly fashion. At least I can move back and forth between the sorting table and the shelves of storage bins without looking like Baryshnikov. If you saw my physique that would be doubly funny.
