First timer, almost ready, but have a couple questions

Postby fishbones » Mon Dec 23, 2024 6:07 pm

I am close to having my reload setup ready. Starting out with a RC2 press.
I am shooting an 18" AR and I plan to start out with Lil Gun and TEZ 250 grain bullets and small rifle primers but have a couple questions.

1. I read on here the published load data is for AR's not bolts, is that truly correct?
2. Is it worth while checking my Land location and backing off 20 thousand?
3. Any tips for my ammo workup.
4. Any special advice on the crip for the TEZ? Thinking about 2 thousand.
5. I rarely shoot over 130 yards, mostly 80 yards and in, whitetail so my goal is energy not distance. Is there a better energy bullet than the TEZ? Maybe something closer to 300 grains?
6. I have my once fired brass, hornady and barnes, this is what I am thinking for brass prep. Decap, wet tumble and dry, hornady dry lube spray, size, measure and trim if necessary, clean primer pockets and brush inside neck, clean again, expand mouth, seat then crimp with Lee 4 die set.

Right now the Hornady black box 250gr shoot real well, Barnes TSX not so good.
I appreciate any tips or advice!
