First of all I have some # 45201 - Hornady 250 Gr FTX bullets and some #45202 - 250gr SST bullets.......what is the difference?

The most accurate bullet I shoot is the 250gr FTX (at approx $28.00 for 50), I have tried the XTP (approx $23.00 per 100)but they do not group as well. I have also tried some different .451 45 caliber pistol bullets, they grouped worse yet.

Any other bullets out there that group well but are less money than the FTX ?
What are you guys using?

SST's should have a hard plastic tip, and the FTX a softer/rubber tip.

Hard to beat them for accuracy ;)

There is a lot of info on the 225 FTX on this board, which is about half the cost of the 250 gr and has good reported performance. When I run out of 250's (which should be soon, I am going to try the 225's.

Randy, have you read this thread? The 240gr XTP Mags fly fairly well. They're a lot like the 250 FTX minus the tip. Unfortunately, their cost is not as low as the non Mag XTPs and on par with the 225 FTX. Mountain Du turned me on to the Magtech 230gr FMJs which are very solidly built. I only spent July 5, 2010 working with them and though I thought I had written them up, I can't find the report here, so perhaps I skipped it. The best group came with the champion of all charges, 38gr of Lil Gun producing an average velocity of 2250 fps. I dug through my old target box and actually found the target from back then. Here's what that load delivered at 100 yards:

Since they don't have the weight reducing benefit of a hollow point, they're not very long and I seated them at 2.05" COL for as much neck tension as possible using a standard taper crimp to .475 at the mouth. The primer was the Remington 7 1/2, my favorite for Lil Gun. I believe better performance could be achieved with a few more sessions with them. They run $20.55/100 at Natchez.

I've shot quite a few of the Nosler 250 grain JHPs. If you find someone that stocks the 250 ct boxes they're pretty reasonable. Nosler also sells blems from time to time. I paid $45/250 for these in 2009.
They'll shoot about as well as the FTX to 100 yards, beyond that they don't group near as well.
