Ruger Gunsite Scout

Postby buckeye3405 » Sun Dec 11, 2022 8:30 pm

Just got back into the 450 game and decided to try the Ruger scout 450. Burris scout scope 2-7x32. Haven’t got a chance to shoot it yet but I’ll be heading to the range this week to zero it. Love how it handles so far though.

Thanks for your help! I have the following ammo on hand to try out.

Steinel Ammo 225gr FTX
Hornady 250gr FTX
Winchester 260gr Power Point
Black Butterfly 275gr XPB
Barnes Vor TX 250gr TSX FB

We have our weekend bonus gun season this weekend in Ohio and having already killed a buck with my crossbow I’ll be on doe patrol. Hope to go to the range wed and zero the scout. Prob with the 250 or 225 FTX for deer. Think the Barnes will make a good brush country bear round.

know a couple guys using the Black Butterfly 250gr Barnes load, it's very accurate ammo. That 275gr load will take care of anything you'll happen to cross paths with.

Range reports are required too!!!

curious how that forward mounted scope works in low light too.

At 50 yards it was shooting one ragged hole. Very nice shooter! Recoil was nothing big. The Ruger muzzle break seems to work well. I was cleaning after every 2-3 shots. After getting a 50 yard zero I shot an orange clay on the back stop of the range at a measured 117 yards. One shot one dusted clay. 250 gr Hornady gummy tip custom ammo. Love the scout setup this far! Once again it’s telling me the attachment is too big. Just a pic from my phone. How do I remedy this?

I use a hosting site, Post Image, but probably others that will work.
