. . .this is what I asked for from Satern: 16" 416R SS barrel threaded for a brake (told them I didn't know if it was supposed to be 5/8"-24 or 11/16"-24 thread, but that I would find out), bead blasted (an option they offer) and that the Bushmaster barrel were a 1-in-24" twist (don't know if that's the best, just know that's what Bushmaster uses).

Maybe you guys could help me out with the brake threading (which one is right), the barrel diameter under the handguard, and the barrel diameter at the gas block. . .as this is info I haven't been able to nail down 100%. I know the .50 Beowulf barrels are 0.980" under the handguard and 0.906" at the gas block, but I don't know if the 450 Bushmaster uses the same size barrel or not.

If you guys that have 450's could help me out it could possibly help us out in the long run.

Thanks!

For sure, if you want to mimic the Bushmaster barrel, they use 11/16-24 for the brake. IIRC, the faux gas block part of the barrel is .750. I know because I used it on my 6.5 Grendel build. I can not reach the carbine gas block part of the barrel to measure it without removing the FFT, but looking through the vents in front of the mag well, it looks like the barrel is .980, but I don't know if it is that diameter at the block. They usually put the blocks just ahead of a step-up in diameter. Sorry I don't have more precise dimensions from my 20" barrel.

Ok, the 450b barrel is one inch coming out of the receiver and is the major diameter. All 450b gas blocks are at the A2 configuration, which is to say they are .750" in diameter.

Hope that helps..

Hello all, brand new to the forum and have been researching a 450 build to add to the collection, if any one is interested lothar walther said they could make custom 450B barrels no problem but you just need to supply a bolt the price they quoted was a tad (not to bad though) higher than what Im used to from lothar, but they do make a good barrel,

Welcome Bicycle wrench. What about the upper receiver, will a 223 work?

The only part I have questions about is whether the ejection port will be large enough. I know there is at least one video out there of how to enlarge an ejection port to clear for Beowulf. If .50 brass will fit .45 will be easy.

The barrels that I bought came from MGI. Not sure there was anything special about them. I believe they told me the barrels were Bushmasters. They came with the style of gas block that is used on the Bushmasters. The price was $249 each when I bought them.
