So, I've been putting together a 450 Bushmaster and although I ordered an Odin Works low profile gas block. Well, after having to order a different AR15 wrench because the one I had wouldn't work with the Aero Precision barrel nut I got to putting the barrel on. Got that taken care of and went to put on the handguard and the damn thing hits the gas block! Opening day is Saturday and I don't have time to order another one to replace it so I guess I'll be shooting it without the handguard on until I figure something out. How important IS and adjustable gas block for a 450 Bushmaster?

I've been involved with 4 builds over the years and none needed an adjustable gas block.

Have you ran an 18" barrel with mid-length gas system and carbine stock with stock buffer?

You should fine for now. If it’s overgassed, a few rounds shouldn’t hurt it. You can dial it in after the season. Who knows, you might get away with just needing a heavier buffer. I personally only run an adjustable gas block on one of my 450B’s, but I will be putting it on a second. Both of those are pistol barrels (10.5” and 12.5”), and my pistol lower takes a proprietary buffer and spring. That’s the only reason they get the adjustables. My 16” carbine gas, 18” midlength, and 20” rifle gas all use non-adjustable gas block’s and Slash’s XH buffer.

two were 18" middys, one set up with collapsible stock, the other was a Ace.

have you tried a regular block? do you know the port size?

No sir. I was able to gently persuade the handguard on today and I'm going to sight it in tomorrow. After deer season, I'm going to disassemble it and get a REAL low profile gas block instead of this abomination made by Odin Works. Might send the barrel and brake out for cerakote too.

The Odin Works block is larger than most low profile blocks. I had one that wouldn't fit with a Midwest Industries handguard. Both of my 450 builds do fine with regular non adjustable blocks.

Yeah, as soon as deer season is over I'm buying a regular one.
